What Obama knew about John Lewis
In his eulogy, the former president reminded those gathered of the perseverance of John Lewis, but Dorothy Lewis writes that she was reminded of Obama's own perseverance--and his understanding of what can yet be lost. He called for Congress to pass a new federal voting rights act, named in Lewis' honor, and urged lawmakers to be ready to keep going, to make the law better.
