NDSA report on Medigadda faults design, construction & operation

The National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) has concluded that the sinking of piers at the Medigadda barrage in Hyderabad was caused by a combination of factors including planning, design, quality control, operation, and maintenance failures. The NDSA report states that the barrage cannot be functional until it is fully rehabilitated, and filling the reservoir would worsen its condition. The report also highlights similar failure modes in two other barrages and calls for urgent examination. Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, criticized the Telangana government for corruption and risking lives and taxpayer's money.
